Who: Latvia and anyone signed up for Busy Pâtisserie
What: Don't expect Latvia to come into a kitchen and not make a mess but with a little help he might just make it through the week
When: Anytime between the 12^th and the 19^th
Where: Chef Montblanc's kitchen

[He was not an expert baker by any means but he knew his way around the kitchen more or less, not to mention free desserts were nothing to be sniffed at. Throughout the week Latvia comes into the kitchen whenever he can to lend a hand]

[Despite his enthusiasm he wasn't the cleanest of cooks. In a large bowl he whips cream with all the energy he can muster. A little too much perhaps as a careless motion of the whisk causes the whole thing to slip out of his hands and splatter onto the counter and the floor. Be careful not to slip, hopefully he didn't drop it on your shoes]

[This time Latvia has been decidedly more careful. Using all his concentration he arranges the small balls of pastry on top of each other after dipping them in a bowl of molten caramel. His hands are shaking quite badly and as the tower gets taller it becomes more of a struggle for him to properly stack the dessert. In the end he has no choice but to admit defeat]

Excuse me, could you let me a hand with this?

[At first glance it doesn't seem like Latvia is here today but maybe if you follow the quiet sounds of someone eating to behind the counter… As soon as he realises he’s been caught he shoves whatever he had been eating into his mouth and practically chokes]

[Koharu has a bowl of custard carefully balanced in both hands as she threads her way between the many helpers and normal chefs. There's not much room between the people and the counter--and she's about to slip by Latvia when she watches a bowl of whipped cream slip right out of his hands and whipped cream flipped everywhere.

She turned to save the custard from cream adulteration--but it does leave splatters of whipped cream on her arm and skirt.] ...Well that's a thing that can't be saved.

[ so he's totally useless at cooking, but that doesn't mean he can't carry things back and forth and do some manual labor. and this counts as manual labor, right? at least he has very steady hands. he reaches for the pastry balls, silent, and indicates that latvia should hold the bowl of caramel. ]

[balzams]

[Oh no! No no no no no!

Out of all the people he could have dropped it on it had to be her. Latvia looks up and down the stains on her clothes and slowly mouths out some kind of reply]

I am so, so sorry...

[balzams]

[He's happy for the help but the fact that he doesn't speak leaves him a little intimidated. Latvia holds onto the bowl of caramel and chews on his lower lip slightly]

Oh, Thank-you very much, Mr... Um...

[Poland peers over the counter, drumming his fingers.] Latvia like. What are you doing?

[balzams]

N-Noffin'

[It's awfully suspicious saying that with your mouth full and Latvia takes a minute to let it all go down before speaking again]

Sh-shouldn't you be working?

[dogtag]

[ 'mister' can be the end of a sentence, can't it? in any case, nic's already turned around to start placing more on the towering stack, and doesn't respond. he's a terrible conversationalist at the best of times, and he doesn't catch what latvia's saying in any case. ]

I am! [Poland licks some frosting off a wooden spoon he's waving around.] I'm like totally supervising or something. It's super exhausting.

[aka: I'm watching everyone else do work.]

Also I'm pretty sure you're not getting paid to eat.

[balzams]

[Latvia doesn't particularly like working in silence with strangers. It makes him feel like he did something wrong. Maybe he just didn't realise he was prompted for a name and Latvia spoke again, a little louder this time]

I'm sorry, could I ask your name?

[balzams]

I wasn't eating anything!

[But the icing on the side of his mouth says otherwise]

Besides, shouldn't you be doing something a bit more productive than supervising?

[dogtag]

[ this time, he pauses, still holding a pastry. oh, he's asking a question... nic gives latvia a second, and then shakes his head. ]

Can't hear.

[ points at his ear, too, for good measure. try asking again? ]

Your name?

[He says it again, much louder this time. It isn't until after that things finally start to click]

Nicolas.

[ he doesn't give his last name out of habit, but at least he caught what latvia was saying this time. ]

Guilty! [Poland climbs over the top of the counter because what is walking around, and waves the spoon at Latvia accusatorially.]

Besides I'm working hard. Oh look that stand of cupcakes has one too many on it. [Poland plucks one off.] If I weren't supervising we'd have totally missed it.

[And Poland is now eating said cupcake.]

[Latvia thinks for a moment and then puts down the bowl he was holding. For a few seconds he seems troubled by his hands and then attempts to clumsily sign something out. L-A-K- Wait, no...

Okay he really didn't remember much sign language at all. But Nicolas didn't seem to have much trouble before, so he simple speaks clearly again]

Latvia. My name is Latvia.

[balzams]

[Latvia scoots away from Poland and leans well out of the way of his accusing spoon. However the moment he takes a cupcake from the stand Latvia points a finger at him in the same accusing fashion]

That is clearly an abuse of power! That stand had just the right number on it I made sure of it myself!

[Talks through a bite of cupcake.]

Nuh uh.

[balzams]

Yuh-huh! This is just hypocrisy!

[notyetlost]

Oh yeah? [Poland swallows his mouthful.] And how'd you count them huh? With your stomach?

[He swipes at the frosting at the corner of Latvia's mouth and holds it up for him to see with his finger.]

You're a hypocrisy!

[ourparadise]

[She shakes her head] Oh no--I meant the cream. The cream clearly can't be saved. I'm not so silly as to wear my best clothes to work in a kitchen.

[She sets the custard down and smiles] Really it's alright. It happens.

[balzams]

Nn!

[He backs away and wipes a hand over his mouth in an attempt to clean off anything else that might be there]

Th-they would have been thrown away anyway! They didn't come out right! The one you just ate was perfectly fine.

[balzams]

[It didn't matter if they were her worst clothes or her best. The fact that he'd split it over Koharu at all was humiliating and he was sure under that smile she was secretly plotting to kill him]

N-No, I'm really really sorry! I shouldn't be so careless, I'm sorry. I-I'll buy you a new dress and everything!

I am the [self appointed] cupcake supervisor, what I say goes!

[Poland dabs the icing on his finger onto Latvia's nose.] Beh!

Oh no there's no need really. I'm sure it will come out with some washing. Really!

You should relax just a little. If you take it too seriously you'll knock everything over.

[Lithuania telling someone to relax and not to take something too seriously is the height of hypocrisy. But Lithuania will help! He'll steady the tower.

And then fuss with it a bit, moving things over a centimeter to the left or right to fix some sort of symmetry problem only he can see. He can't help it, okay?]
