[ being able to light shit on fire at will again is great! what makes it not so great, is the fact that it involves a lot of studying to get better, rather than, you know, practicing lighting shit on fire more. and of course, studying requires books, and books require the library. only, the library in the mages guild is cleaned by zombies.

so, he takes a few books and heads out into the city to study, outside and preferably in the sun. with his stolen/borrowed books. look at this guy! he looks pretty fit and tough, why is he sitting around reading... maybe you should go talk to him. or, if you wait long enough, he'll start practicing his water evocation — calling little splashes of water into existence from his fingertips which fall to the ground in clear arcs. ]
