mission . alumina cup
Who: Alumina Cup participants and spectators!
What: The Alumina Cup, a local swordsmanship tournament open to all citizens of Goldvale.
When: Rosefrucht 22, 10AM
Where: a plaza at the Ironwall District
Rating: PG for violence, please mark your threads if they get any higher
[ Hundreds of people of all ages are gathered at the Iron District, but what for? If one makes it through the crowd, they'll find a large elevated ring. Above it, a banner flies up in the air with two words printed in big bold letters: Alumina Cup. After a harmony of trumpets, the announcer uses a cone to amplify his voice as he begins the program. ]
Ladies and gentlemen, we proudly present Goldvale's annual 121st Alumina Cup! [ Applause and loud cheers from the audience. ] As you all know, this is the day when swordsmen and women from all walks of life gather here at Ironwall to test their skill as they make their way to the top and prove themselves worthy of the prized Alumina Cup trophy! You all know the rules and I know you're all excited, so that leaves us with one final question: Are you ready? [ Even louder cheers, whistles and screams from the audience! ] Then let's begin!
[ The elimination rounds begin. Player characters will not recognize any of the participants, but those in particularly fancy hats might actually be their fellow guild members in disguise. Cheer for your favorite! Or heckle, if that's your thing. ]
( NOTE: The results of this tournament were predetermined by the players. What will be played out here are the matches! )

TOURNAMENT
TIERIA VS. POLAND
no subject
Ready when you are.
no subject
After a long moment, Poland nervously steps into the ring. His hands tremble as he fumbles for his sword and he can only manage an odd sound of discomfort in reply.]
...A-ah.
[Whether it's a confirmation that he's ready or not is up to Tieria to interpret.]
no subject
But even if he doesn't mind waiting, the crowd is cheering for them to start already. Once the referee whistles goes off, Tieria charges in what appears to be a straight charge, sword pointing outward from his side. But at the last minute, he steps becomes irregular as he aims a slash to Poland's right shoulder.]

MIKADO VS. LITHUANIA
no subject
The fancy hat looks rather ridiculous on him, of course, and his sword is a hand-me-down that's obviously seen better days.
But what the boy lacks in style - or skill - he's making up for in enthusiasm right now.]
Let's have a really great match!
[Let's just hope his opponent isn't too easily annoyed.]
casually is embarrassingly late and apologizes forever
He smiles at the boy, cheerful in spite of the ridiculous attire.]
Yes, good luck!
it's okay!

KOUGYOKU VS. TIERIA
no subject
My, I hope my opponent doesn't bore me like the last one.

When he gets up the stage, he nods to his opponent, wondering if he's the actual person or another stand in like himself, before drawing his sword.]

YURI VS. LITHUANIA
no subject
Although he isn't by "Yuri" officially in the tournament, the fact doesn't seem to phase him as he casually walks onto the battle ground, keeping his long hair visible--almost making it seem like he just placed it on his head and walked out. Very simple, stay classy Mr. Philip.
When the crowd roars, he also roars back at them. What a guy.]
I'm so sorry this is embarrassingly late, you don't have to tag this if you don't want to
Lithuania seems, for the moment, fairly relaxed about the entire situation. He's not quite taking it seriously, really. Maybe because of the hats, or the fact that everyone seems to be standing in for someone else with a ridiculous title.]
Ah, good luck!
YURI VS. KOUGYOKU
no subject
He lays the blade on his shoulders, holding the handle, with his own battle stance to boot.]
Alright, who's next?! Bring it!
no subject
[ Kougyoku recognizes that voice from her first day in Goldvale. It's none other that Yuri. She knew he could handle a sword, but this tournament further solidified her opinion of him as a capable warrior.
What a showoff, though... But at least Kougyoku is happy she gets to fight someone strong. She unsheathes her blade and gets in position. ]
This next match looks like fun!

SPECTATORS
open;
but he's there! and he's clapping for kougyoku and he just looks so happy to be here, because wow this is so cool, a tournament and everything!
*note: rion is, like, the only person in dyspros who still thinks kougyoku is cool.]
hi there!
There were some that were receiving more cheers than others, some receiving more disheartening 'boos' than others. By no means does he want to be a poor sportsman, so he's cheering for pretty much everyone, at this point!
Though, he notices that there is someone quite near him that is cheering for one person, when there are not many other cheers to be heard. Of course he cheers too, but he hardly knows whom the person is! It never hurts to find out, though. Right? ]
I beg your pardon. [ Frodo looks towards the person, and nods to the figure in the distance. ] But may I ask whom it is you are cheering for?
hello! sorry for the delay!
he points. doesn't say a word, just points. sorry, frodo, he can't say much of anything.]
it's fine, it's fine! no worries!

So there's some kinda tournament going on, right? [ of course she knows the answer, and she flashes rion a grin, waggling her eyebrows ] Fucking awesome.

he turns to her and smiles, nodding excitedly. there are no words, of course, but the obvious sentiment is 'I know, right?']

...Well, he had, when Boromir and Merry and Pippin had been sparring that one day. But it was quite unlike what he was going to see here- this was actual fighting in a tournament, of all things! And the winner was to be given a beautiful trophy, one that was so unique, he could barely take his eyes off of it.
Unfortunately, Frodo knows nobody participating thus far. But he's willing to cheer for them all the same! ]
Re: SPECTATORS
If a little worrying. Wincing, she calls out. ]
Be careful!
